That's really all I have to say :-)
YolanDa Brown is a one-off, very much a woman of her time. As much entrepreneur as she is musician, as much gifted singer-songwriter as she is the UK's premier saxophonist.
After several years on the world’s jazz circuits, she is now poised to release her debut album, 'April Showers, May Flowers' - out Feb 13th on Black Grape Records..
Her debut album will surely see her cult
reputation brought to the fore.
April Showers, May Flowers is a beautifully
sculpted record that touches lightly on Jazz and
Soul and RnB, each track bestowed with the
kind of lyrical insight - on love, on life - that
suggests its author is something of a poet, too..
Soulful Poise
It's an album of effortless unfurling grace and impeccable soulful poise, featuring 8 Saxophone tracks and - for the first time - 2 vocal tracks (Bitter Sweet and Without You) on which YolanDa showcases her beautiful voice.
YolanDa Brown is the UK’s premier female saxophonist, winning the MOBO Award twice for “Best Jazz” back to back in 2008 and 2009. Her music remains true to the jazz coda whilst continuing to embrace and incorporate other musical influences as equals.
Endorsed
She is endorsed by Yamaha and was appointed as the UK's class band ambassador in February 2011. Yamaha Class Band is a whole-class wind band teaching method, currently being piloted, until July 2012, in a collaboration between Yamaha UK and two of the UK's leading music services.
She has supported The Temptations and has also toured with- to critical acclaim- Errol Brown, Courtney Pine, David Sanborn, Kenny G and Diana Krall - as well as working in collaboration with artists such as Mica Paris and Soweto Kinch and has also performed as a part of Jools Holland’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra.
She is a Celebrity Ambassador for HRH The Prince of Wales and His Prince’s Trust Charity, is a Patron of Mayor of London Boris Johnson’s MFYM fund. In 2010 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Arts by the University of East London.
