I love a good event as much as anyone, but here's something worth highlighting beyond the fact that it's a concert...
Sometimes I almost get lost in working the UKGospel.com machine that I'm grateful when something comes along to realign my thoughts.
Millions of young people are plunged into
poverty and forced into illiteracy because
of the death of a parent or guardian.
Through the Focus Charity Concert, the
plight of such young people in Nigeria is
brought to light, reflecting the mission at
the heart of the Bola Soyode
Educational Foundation.
The BSF currently sponsors young
people, inclusive of tuition fees, uniforms
and books.
Here in the UK this BSF concert is supported by FUE Group, set up by Ify Gbinigie.
Losing the breadwinner
The foundation sponsors the education of children, up to secondary school Level, who as a result of the death of the breadwinner of their families - or even both parents - find it difficult to carry on with their education.
The BSF has been able to raise a substantial amount of money over the years to help these children, sponsoring over a dozen children to secondary school since it started in 2004.
Sponsor 10 More Children, up to University
The aim for this fundraiser is to raise enough money to sponsor at least ten more children, but now the intention is to do so up to university level.
All the funds raised (not just the profits) will go straight to the foundation, and with the equivalent of £1 being N260, this money can go a long way to help these children, covering not only tuition fees, but the costs of uniforms and books as well.
UK and US Acts

So, here's what you get on the day
London based hiphop artist and writer - get Updates!
Muyiwa and Riversongz - Declaring His Name All Around The World - Get It from Amazon!
Hand-picked by production super group PAJAM in Detroit, then-hopefuls Evin Martin, Torrence Greene, and Jor’el Quinn were three strangers chosen on the basis of their faith, as well as their singing and dancing abilities.
Jake Isaac
The Upcoming Praise & Worship artiste behind the potent "I = Change" movement , returns high-quality Praise & Worship centre stage - as well as championing the sound in a demographic more likely to be known for Hip-hop or Grime.
2010 is likely to be his breakthrough year...
Rachel Kerr
Daughter of the legendary gospel singer, Dalton Kerr – founder of Re:mission and Choir light.
Born and bred with gospel music legends like Mahalia Jackson and Andre Crouch and James Cleveland, Rachel has made a name for herself in the gospel R&B and Soul genre.
Another artist to definitely watch out for in 2010
Mo'Tru
With her inspiring 2009 debut album Heart Song, Mo'Tru is a passionate artiste with long credits of back live stage gospel music performances, particularly as worship leader of the Tribe of Judah, the Jesus House Choir.
Guvna B (2009 Urban Music Award Winner)
Guvna B has achieved a lot in such a short space of time with two independent releases, featured on a MOBO award winning album (G Force), and number one on the Myspace charts for Gospel & Christian rap.
His debut album 'The Narrow Road' has showed his versatility and is selling well in leading UK outlets. Guvna B is a well rounded artist who not only makes good music, but makes good music with substance and relevant content.
GK Real (GEM Award Winners)
R&B and hip-hop gospel with a dash of Nigerian fire.
Their debut 'It's All About You', picked up plenty of plaudits from the critics, and its appealing mix of R&B, hip-hop, traditional gospel all served with a hint of Nigerian passion stands up well against the big budget American gospel offerings.
